Our Story
From Healing Hands to Heartfelt Homes: A Story of Renewal and Craft
For nearly two decades, I worked as a registered nurse—nineteen years of long shifts, full hearts, and the sacred privilege of caring for others in their most vulnerable moments. In those years, I learned that healing is more than medicine. It’s comfort. It’s calm. It’s the little things—the scent of lavender after a hard day, the warmth of a flickering flame in a quiet room, the way a space can whisper peace into a weary soul.
After nearly 20 years of giving my heart to healing others, I felt a gentle tug toward something new. Something still grounded in care and connection—but crafted by hand, from my own kitchen table. That calling led me here, to what is now my woman-owned small business: Lola & Bean Co, a line of hand poured, thoughtfully crafted soy candles and home fragrances designed to bring intentional calm and cozy beauty into everyday life.
Each candle I pour is rooted in that same spirit of care. I use natural soy wax, clean fragrance oils, and sustainable practices because I believe our homes—and our planet—deserve gentleness. Every scent tells a story, inspired by life’s simple joys: the comfort of clean sheets, the memory of Sunday baking, the stillness of early morning light. My fragrances aren’t just pleasant—they’re purposeful.
My journey from a 19-year career as a registered nurse to starting my woman-owned small business has been rooted in the same values I’ve always held close: creativity, connection, and community. What began as a personal calling to create has grown into a collection of handcrafted soy candles and home fragrances that offer more than just beautiful scents—they offer a sense of sanctuary. In a busy world, I believe in creating moments of peace, comfort, and intention—one candle at a time.
Warmly,
Melanie
